GREAT BROOK VALLEY GARDENS
Landscape and Site Improvements
Worcester Housing Authority
Worcester, Massachusetts

Project Data-
Date: 1998
Context: Suburban Worcester, Massachusetts

Project Description:
Great Brook Valley Gardens is a 535 unit, low-income housing community managed by the Worcester Housing Authority. The purpose of this project was to provide construction drawings with sheet specifications for three different types of site improvements:

1) new entry walks with steps and handrails;
2) intersection improvements with planters, granite bollards and crosswalks; and
3) on-site plant nursery with security fencing.

These improvements were site specific and were part of a training program for some of the residents. Each drawing needed to be clear and concise. Therefore, to eliminate multiple drawings, each area of improvement was designed and laid out on an individual sheet with construction details and specifications. The entrance and intersection improvements corrected problem areas while the plant nursery will permit the community to grow nursery stock for future site enhancements.

EDC Principal Thomas Elmore was Principal-In-Charge and Project Manager for this project while with another firm.
